Do you understand the responsiveness of your flock’s reproductive rate?
Did you know that this response in reproductive rate varies between flocks by as much as 13% and 60% more lambs for each extra condition score (CS).
Flystrike Indicator Traits
ASBV’s are currently available for all flystrike indicator traits except for urine stain (more information needs to be entered into the database for there to be a reportable ASBV for this trait).
To feed or not to feed? Reproduction rate response to increased condition score
Ewes in better condition at joining, on average, conceive more lambs and therefore have a higher reproductive rate (foetus/100 ewes joined).
Submitting DNA Samples
When submitting your DNA samples it is really important that you make sure that they are package up really well before posting, making sure the postage box is well taped and the racks have an elastic band around them or are in a zip lock bag.
