Welcome to the team Bridget!

Hello everyone,

My name is Bridget Parkman and I have recently started working full time with Sally and the SheepMetriX team.

I grew up on, and have been heavily involved in, my families mixed farming enterprise near Murringo, a few kilometres East of Young. We produce Merino ewes and Wethers, as well as first cross ewes (using Border Leicester sires) and prime lambs (using Poll Dorset sires). We also regularly propagate cereal crops and use these for alternative feed sources.

I attended Charles Sturt University (CSU) in Wagga Wagga from 2018 to 2021, studying a Bachelor of Animal Science, and gained important industry knowledge about animal health and welfare, agribusiness, information extension and production efficiency.

Prior to working with Sally, I thought my only gateway into the sheep industry was the free labour I provided to my parents, yet I was wrong. After I graduated University, I began a graduate program on a dairy farm near Forbes, as a means of broadening my skillset. However, it was here that I realised my true passions lie working with sheep. Thankfully, Sally kindly let me join the SheepMetriX team in March this year, and I was introduced to the world of agricultural extension. Since then, I have thoroughly enjoyed participating in data collection, engaging in industry events, and meeting like-minded people. Needless to say, I am eager to learn more!

I look forward to working with Sally, the SheepMetrix team and their clients for the rest of 2022, with the hopes of implementing my experiences and knowledge about new industry techniques, into my family farm.

Thanks,

Bridget Parkman
