South West Slopes Sire Evaluation Update

Out at Brooklyn on the Frogmore Road, 500 odd merino ewes & wethers patiently awaited their annual classing and muscle scanning check-up. Thankfully the rain had stayed away long enough for Sally and Bridge, accompanied by accredited EMD scanner Trevor Pearce and Rob Chudleigh’s team, to collect important data for the Sire Evaluation.

Several traits were measured on the day including, fleece rot, wool character, wool colour, dust penetration, staple weathering and staple structure. As well as jaw structure, legs and feet structure, face cover, dag score and urine score. The sheep where then given an overall grade (tops, flocks & culls).
