Hypotrichosis

Hypotrichosis is a condition in which there is little or no hair growth on the head. This condition has been seen in White Suffolk, Poll Dorset and Merino sheep. As we understand the disease does not affect the productivity of the animal, however does pose some animal health issues with sunburn related issues.

SheepMetriX is working with Neogen to assist in finding affected animals and collect DNA samples to help identify the genes responsible. If you have any affected sheep in your flock we would love it if you could get in contact with Sally or Lucinda so we can help collect and facilitate the DNA collection.
